Automotive Battery Thermal Management System market size was US$ 628.7 million and it is expected to reach US$ 3030.1 million by the end of 2027, with a CAGR of 26.1% during 2022-2027.

Automotive Battery Thermal Management System Market Overview

Automotive battery thermal management system is a structure that controls the pre-heating and cooling of batteries used in hybrid and electric vehicles. This system makes sure that the batteries will operate within the certain temperature range and help electric vehicles in driving seamlessly for longer period of time. The automotive battery thermal management system comprises of battery cooler, electronic water pump, cooling plate and electronic expansion valve.

Highest market share will be registered by zero-emission vehicles meaning BEVs in electric vehicle segment when compared with FCVs, PHEVs and HEVs owing to the subsidies from government. For example, in countries like China, BEVs which are emission-free vehicles get higher subsidies than HEVs and PHEVs. Due to decreasing battery prices, decreasing charging time and increasing awareness toward the green environment initiative the growth of BEV market is expected to register steady growth over the forecast period.

The global average price of Automotive Battery Thermal Management System is in the increasing trend, from 710 USD/Unit in 2013 to 767 USD/Unit in 2017 as the development of technology. With the situation, prices will be in increasing trend in the following five years as the liquid cooling system is more and more.

Industry News and Updates

September 07, 2021: MAHLE develops new battery cooling system for faster charging of electric cars--

MAHLE, the specialist for thermal management, i.e., the heating and cooling of the vehicle interior and components, has developed a completely new cooling system for batteries. Cooling is a major challenge, especially when it comes to fast charging battery-powered electric vehicles. The Stuttgart-based automotive supplier relies on immersion cooling as a key technology. An electrically non-conductive coolant flows around the cells, thereby ensuring that the maximum temperature of the battery drops markedly during charging and that the overall temperature is distributed much more homogeneously.
