The global Internal Trauma Fixation Device market reached a value of US$ 8,890.20 million in 2021. Looking ahead, the market is expected to reach $ 12,802.14 million by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 5.50% between 2022 and 2027.
Internal trauma fixation devices are used to repair and stabilize severe bone fractures and dislocations. There are two different categories of fixation devices: internal and exterior. Internal fixation devices are placed inside the body of the patient to maintain the patient's bearing load during the healing process and to give the patient's shattered bone the right shape. External fixation devices are hardware elements that support and secure the underlying bone when utilized with other elements like bolts and wires. Internal trauma fixing devices also help bones heal more quickly and recover improperly. By preventing shattered bones from moving, these devices hasten the process of fixing broken bones. Devices for internal trauma fixation are made of titanium, steel, or steel and nickel alloys. Due to their corrosion resistance and ability to be adjusted to the bone structure, these devices are secure.
The market for internal trauma fixation devices is anticipated to expand significantly during the course of the projection. The increase can be ascribed to a number of variables, including an increase in the prevalence of disorders like osteoporosis and an increase in the incidence of orthopedic ailments together with an ageing population. Additionally, the expansion of healthcare institutions around the world fuels the industry. The lack of experienced workers and high cost of the orthopedic implant technique, however, restrain market expansion. Furthermore, during the projection period, it is anticipated that the high market potential in emerging economies would present lucrative prospects for market expansion.
26 September 2019: Smith & Nephew Launches TRIGEN INTERTAN Fracture Nail Assurance Program--
Smith & Nephew (SNN) launched an INTERTAN Product Assurance (IPA) Program that will reimburse a healthcare facility for the cost of the TRIGEN™ INTERTAN™ Intertrochanteric Hip Fracture Nail if it fails to perform as expected. The company estimates that hip fracture care has an annual cost of $12BB to $15BB to the healthcare system and an average reoperation rate of 6.6%. The IPA Program is intended to help mitigate this expense by potentially reducing the overall reoperation rate. Under the program, SNN will refund the cost of the implant to the facility for 12 months following the procedure.
