January 21, 2021— Rakon has introduced the RVC1616S, a hybrid Voltage Controlled Oscillator that is space qualified (VCO). The design, which is based on proprietary thick film technology, employs low noise bipolar transistors and hyber abrupt varactor diodes. The technology improves phase noise performance, as well as reliability and thermal management.



The RVC1616S is radiation-hardened to 100 kRad (Si) and hermetically sealed to operate in the harsh environment of space. It is a 16-pin flat pack device with a package size of 16 x 16 x 4.3 mm and straight or gull-winged formed leads. Its thick film optimizes the size, weight, and power of the RVC1616S. (SWaP). The output frequencies range from 900 MHz to 1.5 GHz.
