Titanium Alloys Market Overview
Titanium is both a metal and a chemical component. It’s created when chemicals are mixed with titanium. The end product is a strong metal with a high melting point. These two properties are what make it highly desired in many industries. Titanium alloys are very light. This makes them able to endure very high and low temperatures without cracking or chipping. They don’t increase quickly when exposed to heat. Titanium alloys also don’t catch fire easily. These are the reasons why many industries want to use this type of metal in their regular manufacturing operations. Some of these industries are automotive, aerospace, marine, and chemical. Titanium and its alloys are extremely compatible with carbon fiber. Combination of carbon fibers and titanium alloys progresses the tensile strength of the aircraft frame and also provides excellent prevention to metal corrosion. Titanium and its alloys also have high thermal coefficient. This provides enhanced stability to the aircraft at high engine temperature from thermal expansion during operations. Titanium alloys are replacing steel-based materials in areas where high strength is required. Titanium alloys provide protection from galvanic corrosion in the joints of the aircraft. These alloys also helps in structure strain elimination which is caused by the differentiating expansion coefficient between different joint materials. Titanium and its alloys are also employed in turbo fan engines, which are widely used in commercial aircraft to lower fuel consumption.
